Grace & Diana — An Inman Park Engagement Full of Love and Laughter

By Kate Phillips, Documentary Wedding Photographer

From the moment I met Grace and Diana, it felt like we were old friends just catching up. They’re the kind of people who immediately make you feel at ease—kind, joyful, and totally magnetic. Photographing their engagement session in Inman Park was an absolute joy—not just because the light was perfect or the scenery beautiful (though both were true), but because of who they are.

Two women wrapped in a joyful embrace, captured in a tender black and white moment. One beams with a scrunched-up smile as they hold each other close, love and laughter radiating between them—an honest, unscripted glimpse of queer joy and connection.

A tender moment between two women outside an ornate iron gate, one gently touching the other's face with a soft, adoring smile. Dressed in long coats and denim, they share a quiet, loving pause—an effortlessly intimate portrait of queer love grounded in ease, strength, and authenticity.

In a close-up black-and-white image, the couple laughs together. One woman wears a striped sweater and glasses, her face partially obscured by motion blur, while the other smiles with eyes closed, wearing a dark knit top. Their joyful expressions fill the frame.

Two women walk hand-in-hand down a quiet residential street. They are both wearing long black coats and blue jeans, with one in heeled boots and the other in sneakers. The woman on the right looks back with a smile, while the other gestures playfully forward. Trees and houses frame the overcast scene.

Grace and Diana met in college, where they bonded over their shared love of political science and, eventually, each other. Their connection is effortless. Watching them interact—laughing, teasing, leaning into each other—reminded me of why I love documentary photography so much. Real moments. Real emotion. Nothing forced.

The couple sits at a small café table on a city sidewalk, holding hands and engaged in animated conversation. One woman wears a black coat and glasses, while the other wears a black leather jacket and sneakers. Behind them, a red brick building with a tapas bar sets an urban tone.

Inman Park isn’t just another photo spot—it’s their old neighborhood. It holds the memories of early dates, lazy weekends, and discovering Atlanta together. Shooting here gave their photos a layer of intimacy and nostalgia that made everything feel even more personal.

A black-and-white image captures the same couple walking away on a leaf-strewn sidewalk in a tree-lined neighborhood. Their figures are small in the frame, holding hands and mid-step, with large trees and vintage homes creating a dreamy, nostalgic atmosphere.

They met in college as political science majors and quickly found not only shared interests but an incredible connection. Being around them, it’s clear how well they balance and support each other. There’s so much ease between them—every look, every laugh, every touch says home.

We chose Inman Park for their session not just because it’s beautiful (though it absolutely is), but because it’s meaningful to them. It’s where they built their lives together post-college. Where they got to know the rhythm of each other’s day-to-day, discovered favorite coffee shops, and took long evening walks.

Grace and Diana will be tying the knot in October 2025 at Park Tavern—a venue I adore for its mix of elegance and laid-back vibes. I already know their wedding is going to be breathtaking, but even more than that, it’s going to be overflowing with love.
