Kassidy and Cody’s funky hotel wedding in Raleigh, North Carolina was a dream come true! Kassidy and I met when we both lived in Greenville, SC and worked at the same coffee shop for a bit. I had a bit of a midlife crisis after being a nurse in the Emergency Room during the height of the pandemic. I went full-time in my photography business and picked up a coffee shop job on the side. It was SO fun and I loved every minute.
My business grew unbelievably quickly and I had to leave, but I’ll never forget my experience there and the people I met. Kassidy helped train me, as she had been working there from the start. I fell in love with her sarcasm and we became friends immediately. I was given the honor to photograph she and her boyfriend in fall of 2020. Their love is so sweet and that was so evident from the start. When they got engaged and Kassidy contacted me to photograph her wedding photos, I was SO excited and screamed “YES!”.
Kassidy and Cody’s original plan was an intimate backyard wedding at Cody’s home in Raleigh, North Carolina. Kassidy had a beautiful vision and was making it come to life with her DIY talent! A week before their day, it was clear it was going to be storming in Raleigh on their wedding date. They changed their plans to a hotel wedding in Raleigh and their friends and family worked hard to make it the dreamiest day. And let me just tell you, it was absolutely beautiful. I was blown away by how everyone pitched in and made a seemingly drab hotel into a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding day.
The flood gates opened on their day, so they made the right choice. There were flash flood warnings all day long. This forced us to get super creative and find the coolest, funkiest photo locations inside the hotel. I have never felt more excited about getting creative than I did this day. These two totally trusted me with my vision. I felt so inspired. It was a day I will never forget and will never take for granted. What an honor it is to document the biggest day of a couple’s life. Gosh, I can’t believe this is my job.
Enjoy these funky, editorial, vintage inspired wedding photos from this October wedding. I hope they inspire you to think out of the box and get creative when planning your own wedding day!
